The new Mühlenweg ramp for cyclists was inaugurated on 25 September in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Mobility and Public Works François Bausch, city mayor Lydie Polfer and officials from the National Roads Administration. The aim of this piece of infrastructure is to ensure a better connection between the north-eastern part of the Gasperich district and the station. This ramp is part of the reconstruction of the Buchler bridge and represents the final major step before the finishing works. The old pedestrian link between the bridge and Mühlenweg was demolished as part of the works to widen the bridge. The old staircase and ramp were therefore replaced by a ramp for cyclists and pedestrians measuring 88 metres in length, 4 metres in width, and with a gradient of less than 6%. The ramp footbridge, which will provide added value for residents, will come into final operation at the end of this year. To make the Buchler bridge accessible to people with reduced mobility, the installation of a lift is also foreseen.
