One of Luxembourg City’s must-attend summer events, the three-day festival ‘Kinnekswiss loves…’ is back in the green heart of the city, at the Kinnekswiss in the municipal parc, for a series of concerts at the beginning of July. Family and friends will enjoy a nice summer evening comfortably seated on the grass, often accompanied by a picnic and some beverages.

On Friday 30 June, Stewart Copeland – the famous drummer and founder of the band The Police – will be making a headline appearance as part of his ‘Police Deranged for Orchestra’ tour. He will be appearing live on the immense Kinnekswiss stage, for a concert that has taken on a cult-like dimension and in which the band’s most popular hits will be performed by the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra and the Luxembourg Military Band.

On the following day, 1 July, the ‘Rhapsodies on the Kinnekswiss’ concert will be featuring the flamboyant Asian-American pianist Yuja Wang, whose magnetic personality was a source of inspiration for Swiss author Étienne Barilier’s novel Piano chinois. Guest artist Yuja Wang was the unanimous choice of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Gimeno. What better opening than the keyboard virtuoso’s dazzling runs in Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, followed by the exhilaration of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier and ending in a swirling, intoxicating apotheosis with Maurice Ravel’s La Valse.

Finally, on 2 July, different ensembles of the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg will be performing throughout the day, followed by the final concert “Dicksiana”.
