Before surrendering to the mind-boggling swing of some thrilling jazz musicians, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra begins this concert with Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, a gem of a suite in ten movements connected by the ‘promenade’ theme where all the colours of the journey are expressed.

Then it’s over to American trumpet legend Wynton Marsalis, performing on stage with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, which has become the big band of the century. With rhythms alternating between tradition and modernity, the collaboration between this flamboyant ensemble and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra will see the performance of The Jungle (Symphony No.4). This piece of music in six movements created by Marsalis is a tribute to the excesses of New York where jazz and blues fuse with symphony music.
