Following the success of Carmen(s) in 2018, Valencia-based Spanish choreographer José Montalvo returns to the Grand Théâtre with the joyful, radiant musical Gloria. A troupe of 16 dancers will be taking to the stage to bring the creator’s ideas to life. In these uncertain times, he has chosen to depict a cheerful, funny world driven by music, dance and theatre. There are plenty of tributes to some of the great names in choreography, such as Pina Bausch, but Montalvo ensures that this is a meaningful celebration, for behind the glitter, he condemns the prevailing sense of egotism, without ever coming down too heavily. Everything about Gloria screams lightness, and the talent of this troupe will certainly brighten up what promises to be a truly memorable evening.
