The Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Corinna Niemeyer, invites audiences to a concert where composers have worked with a group of ingenious musicians – birds. The visionary work of Jean-Féry Rebel celebrates the lost paradise that is birdsong. Ottorino Respighi’s Suite also derives from joyfully descriptive music. As for Einojuhani Rautavaara’s moving evocation of the Arctic landscapes, recorded songs populate his work of birds of which “no one knows the secret of distant exiles”. A concert which makes it difficult to come back down to earth.
