Open days at the Schluechthaus

On 19 and 20 March, the general public was invited to a Meet @ Schluechthaus event. During these open days, visitors were able to (re)discover the site of the former slaughterhouse in Hollerich. A wide range of cultural, sports and leisure activities for all ages were on offer, including arts and crafts and colouring activities, a track on which people could improve their bike, scooter or push bike riding skills, a graffiti workshop, guided tours on the history of the former slaughterhouse and a presentation of the Luxembourg Red Cross rescue services.

This event is in line with the City’s desire to organise one-off, multidisciplinary events (musical workshops, shows, exhibitions, and so on) to revitalise and promote the Schluechthaus and enable the public to get to know the site prior to refurbishment works. The aim? To implement, in a test phase, the ideas and wishes for the future of the site gathered during the citizen participation programme organised in September 2019. The following are already planned: beatbox, urban dance, presentation and concerts of the youth bands and world music section of the Conservatoire, as well as weekends dedicated to urban sports and graffiti.
