The first edition of the Assises sociales was held on 25 November at the Tramsschapp. 200 people took part in this discussion and information day for the social sector organised by the City. The City departments involved in the initiative (Directorate for Social Affairs, Integration and Special Needs Department, Youth and Social Intervention Department, Housing Department, Department of Senior Services and the Social Welfare Office) and professionals of the industry (Caritas, Red Cross, Inter-Actions, etc.) came together to share experiences and best practices. “This project was born out of the wish of the college of aldermen to thank and bring together the actors of the social sector working for the City. Social work has been even more important for our people during the pandemic,” say the organisers. This day was an opportunity to highlight the many projects that address a number of social challenges, and thus contribute to the improvement of people’s lives. The event included information stands, presentations and a round table moderated by Annick Goerens about networking between industry stakeholders.
