Composer Charles Koechlin had a very meaningful experience in 1934 when he attended a screening of the film Princess, At Your Orders!. Then aged 67, he became infatuated with leading lady Lilian Harvey, who had a certain reputation in Europe, and wrote 113 compositions for her, including two albums entitled Albums de Lilian. With regard to his scores, Koechlin confessed that he “covered his paper in tears”, but the composer always avoided meeting Lilian in person. Married with five children, Koechlin sent his wife to meet his muse on his behalf and present her with his latest selection of compositions. The programme for the evening will also include scores by Gaubert, Hüe and Berlioz, with soprano Hélène Bernardy, Carlo Jans on flute, Claude Giampellegrini on cello and Tatsiana Molakava on piano painting an original picture of the French musical landscape.
