November will feature the at times controversial career of Blake Edwards: actor, director, producer and screenwriter, whose work tackled comedy and romance in early years, banding deeper and darker themes of death, psychoanalysis and sex as he progressed.
We start with iconic classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s as well as the famous Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther and The Return of the Pink Panther. The Party sees a disgraced actor wreak havoc at a grand Hollywood soirée, and Operation Petticoat draws in more laughs as a slapstick comedy onboard a submarine, where a group of female nurses act as the rather destabilising cargo, and Micki and Maude puts journalist Rob between two pregnant partners he then attempts to hide from one another.
Finally, That’s Life – a partly autobiographical film about the absurd anxieties in love and life – brings the month’s selection to a close.
