An immersive installation like no other, AnthropOcean plunges into the marine ecosystem by adopting a sonic approach. Artists Ganaël Dumreicher, Michelle Kleyr and Lucie Wahl explore the sounds of the ocean floor – essential to the communication and orientation of marine species –, which are unfortunately being disturbed by human activity. Indeed, since the 1970s, ocean noise levels have been rising steadily, doubling every decade. Human activities (global sea traffic, military sonars and oil exploration using seismic air guns) have deadly consequences for an already heavily polluted ecosystem. Paradoxically, despite its distance from the sea, Luxembourg has a direct influence on this state of affairs, which reveals itself in these loop & cube installations.
