02/04 – 28/11, MNHA, www.mnha.lu
From the very beginning, Robert Brandy strove for independence and individuality. He also wanted to make a living from his passion, a desire that became a reality after his studies in the South of France where he discovered the Supports/Surfaces movement, inspiring a particular sensitivity towards the substance of works of art. His career was launched, asserting his unique style and leading to fame in France and internationally.
This exhibition is a retrospective of Robert Brandy’s rich career through a selection of creations that reflect his growth as an artist. It also places him firmly in the Luxembourg art scene as a pioneer who made becoming a professional and independent artist a reality. In this sense, he transcended his art, becoming a myth for younger generations and an example to follow.
