The devil is not only in the details; he has always been and is indeed still there, especially when it comes to contemporary art, where he expresses himself in so many different ways and takes on many different faces. In the framework of this exhibition, each artist develops their own vision of this antediluvian figure, giving him the characteristics and/or features of danger, power or liberation. Between reflexive concealment and anonymity, the devil is adorned in such a way as to highlight the evil aspect of man as much as the unpleasant banality of evil. The works featured in this exhibition also challenge the boundaries between the visible and the invisible, disguise and mass, and explore the fields of philosophy, economics, politics, aesthetics and morality – the many and varied facets of ‘the grey man’.
