Having the opportunity to rediscover Le Ballet royal de la nuit more than 250 years after it was created means experiencing a totally unique journey through time. The curtain comes up and the audience finds themselves in Versailles, where Louis XIV is at the height of his glory. Aged just 15, he is seen playing his part before an astonished court of Versailles that is just discovering the young Sun King. Four acts and 45 scenes had, in fact, been created especially for him by the greatest artists of their time, and this musical celebration, revisited here by Sébastien Daucé, pays tribute to the French spirit of the time, offering a contemporary take on Le Ballet royal de la nuit. A game of contrasts and contradictions, this extraordinary performance is certainly one not to be missed!
