Anne Beffort gets a rose in her name

On Wednesday 4 September 2019, the City of Luxembourg and the association Patrimoine Roses pour le Luxembourg baptised the “Anne-Beffort” climbing rose in the Mansfeld park. The name was chosen to mark the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the appointment of Anne Beffort as the first female secondary school teacher in Luxembourg. The small climbing rose, christened using water from the Alzette, is an orange variety that shifts towards yellow-pink and is robust and very perfumed. At the event, texts by Anne Beffort were read by students from the Lycée Robert-Schuman and the lycée Classique de Diekirch. A musical backdrop was provided by the following choirs – D’Grënnësch Spatzen (Grund), La Fraternelle (Grund) and Cäcilieveräin (Pfaffenthal) – as well as by Patrick Colombo on the piano.
