Following 2 Lips and Dancers and Space in 2004, Oh les beaux jours in 2008 and La Traviata in 2018, director Robert Wilson is back at the Grand Théâtre with another world premiere. Joining forces with American folk duo CocoRosie, he offers a new take on Rudyard Kipling’s famous novel The Jungle Book, the classic to end all classics, in this family-friendly performance. The surrealist world of CocoRosie is the perfect setting for the story of Mowgli, the boy abandoned in the jungle, who forms close friendships with the wild animals that live there. A cast of young musicians and actors will be bringing Bob Wilson’s highly inspired visions to life.
“The Jungle Book is a work for all ages,” he claims. “I’ve always loved what Baudelaire used to say: ‘Genius is no more than childhood recaptured at will’.”
