X Factor winners don’t often stay around for very long… Remember Ben Haenow? Nope. What about Leon Jackson? I bet you couldn’t pick him out of a line-up. So when James Arthur disappeared from the scene following his massive debut single, ‘Impossible’, it wasn’t that big a surprise. He hit the headlines following some unsavoury tweets, which he apologised for, but things started to go badly, low sales led him being dropped by Simon Cowell’s label and it seemed as though that was it for the Yorkshire-born singer.

But now he seems to have put all of those setbacks behind him. He signed a new deal with Columbia in 2015 and his second album, Back from the Edge, has seen him do just that. ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’, the album’s lead single, went to #1 in the UK selling over a million copies and even made some waves in the States. It’s a great record and Arthur is starting to become the kind of artist one always felt he wanted to be, with Digital Spy calling it an “anti-X Factor album,” adding: “This is the winner we all wanted.” Worth checking out.
