In the night of 16-17 October 1941, the first train deporting Jewish residents from Luxembourg to the ghetto of Lodz in occupied Poland left from Luxembourg’s central station. The 323 people on board included young children, teenagers, men and women. Only 12 returned alive. A ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversay of this sad event will take place on 16 October at the Deportation Memorial in Hollerich, in the presence, notably, of the Prime Minister, the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the President of the Israelite Consistory of Luxembourg.
